Endometriosis of the bowel is a complex condition. It can be difficult to diagnose and present in different ways. Management can range from hormonal or medical therapy to surgery. Surgery can usually be performed laparoscopically (keyhole) and may involve a shave excision, a disc excision of the bowel, or a segmental resection and anastomosis of the bowel depending on the amount of the bowel involved.
