Trans-anal Endoscopic Microsurgery is a technique that uses specialised equipment to perform surgery through the back passage. It allows removal of large, difficult to access polyps or early cancers which would have otherwise have required removal of the entire rectum. It requires no cuts on the outside and most patients stay in hospital only one to two nights. As this is a highly specialised field, please discuss the suitability of this technique with your colorectal surgeon or Mr Eugene Ong.
